Free Energy Storage
Smart Reflectors now enable you to choose where heat from the sun is stored. We will soon add software for our reflectors to automatically learn where to direct and store heat in a building, so it’s released when you need it. The reflectors can direct heat to lightweight structures such as furniture and plasterboard walls when you’ll just need heat over a couple of days, or larger structures such as brick walls and ground floors if you’ll need the heat released over a few weeks. Our system will be tailored to your needs by creating a custom thermal model of your building and tracking live online weather forecasts too.
Boosting Solar PV
Simply directing our reflectors at solar panels will significantly boost their output as and when needed. Old solar panel systems on a generous solar feed-in tariff that lose substantial revenue from having a shadow cast over them, and can’t be moved or modified without losing the tariff, can now have the shadow tracked by one or more Smart Reflectors and have that significant income restored. Our reflectors can also see live local electricity demand and automatically boost a neighbour’s or your solar panels when the revenue is greatest.
Design
Before, you had no control over where sunlight came from or went to. Smart Reflectors now enable you to effortlessly control both of these. Fill previously dull, dark, dingy corners of your home or commercial building with bright, natural sunshine. In addition to all the other financial and health benefits, this will breathe new light into your spaces, at a fraction of the cost of a new window or skylight, while maintaining your insulation and energy performance rating.
Cooling
In summer, our reflectors can simply reflect the sun’s energy back into space, preventing it from heating anything behind the reflector. Unlike typical cooling systems that create a lot of heat when running, our reflectors, when used in their cooling mode, actually cool the local area and planet instead, reversing global warming instead of making it worse.
Health Benefits
We’re all evolved for substantially more sunlight than we receive in modern life, causing well documented health issues (link report https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7400257). The cost and hassle of SAD lamps (link?) often don’t warrant the benefits of just a fraction of the spectrum of normal sunlight. Why not have the full spectrum of the sun’s natural energy beamed straight to you wherever you choose. In initial tests the first benefit reported was improved sleep over reduced energy usage.
